Exhausted from my busy schedule and craving a quick weather change—but not Digha or Mandarmani again—my awesome colleague, Neil, suggested Kolaghat, a riverside getaway perfect for a day trip or a relaxing weekend stay.
I had not heard much about Kolaghat as a destination, but I decided to take a chance, and I’m so glad I did!
Kolaghat surprised me with its magic, cozy spots surrounded by nature’s beauty, and fun activities. I can’t wait to share all these fantastic adventures in my upcoming article!
My weekend trip to Kolaghat revolved around my stay at Rupasi Rupnarayan Kuthi and the experiences that made it unforgettable.

Neil suggested that Kolaghat is just a three-hour drive from Kolkata via NH16, but we chose the eco-friendly option—taking a local train from Howrah to Deulti for a budget-friendly and scenic journey.
The 1.5-hour train ride was fun with my family, and time passed quickly as we enjoyed delicious snacks from the vendors!

As I stepped off the train at Deulti station, a charming rural atmosphere embraced me. And right there, in the heart of Deulti station, stood a magnificent statue of a renowned author named Sarat Chandra Chatterjee! Deulti is the hometown of this famous literary legend!

Afterward, we took a super cool ride in a toto from the station to Kolaghat. It was like a mini-adventure! The toto ride took us about 30 minutes, following along a road by the river – it was simply mesmerizing!
Our toto driver dropped us right at the Rupasi Rupnarayan Kuthi (RRK) resort where we had a reservation.

In Kolaghat, you’ll find lots of cozy and budget-friendly hotels in Deulti. But Neil suggested – to truly enjoy the beauty of Kolaghat, we must stay in a riverside resort! So, we chose this fantastic Rupasi Rupnarayan Kuthi resort. Their hospitality was top-notch, and our room was super spacious, nice, and squeaky clean!

You won’t believe what else we found in our room – a fast wifi connection! It was perfect for those who need to work from home while enjoying the beauty of nature. And the view from our room was breathtaking – we could see the majestic Rupnarayan river right from our huge glass window! Plus, there was a big balcony with a swing! Can you imagine sitting there, watching the sunset and the river flowing by? So magical!

This resort had everything we needed for a luxurious stay. It was a amazing experience!
Around noon, we decided to order some delicious food right to our resort! The portions were generous, and the taste was yummy, but we noticed the prices were a bit higher. But don’t worry, my beloved foodies, the resort food was worth it!
We also learned that the nearby Roop Resort is another excellent option for a fantastic stay. And guess what? All these resorts are nestled along the beautiful river! So, you get to enjoy the mesmerizing views while having a delightful time.

We took a short nap after a full course meal, in our comfy room, with the AC keeping us cool. Then, by five in the afternoon, we stepped out to explore the enchanting garden. And you know what? The place was buzzing with excitement! Lots of people from Kolkata and nearby districts had come to spend their weekend here, just like us!

The resort has not just one, but two swimming pools! One of them is specially made for kids to splash and play! But that’s not all – the resort boasts a beautiful garden area, all neat and tidy. And guess what else we found there? Loads of cool selfie zones and spots to take Instagram-worthy photos! So, we made sure to strike some fun poses and capture amazing memories!
As the sun started to set, we left the resort and strolled along the river. It was a mesmerizing sight! Many people had gathered to watch the stunning sunset by the river. There’s something truly magical about witnessing the sun’s beauty as it dips into the horizon. Not just the tourists like us; even the local residents comes here to enjoy the breathtaking view!

As the sun slowly set, the sky turned a warm orange, then the sun looked like a lovely shade of red, and finally disappeared behind the fluffy clouds. Once the sun bid us farewell, darkness started to creep in, and people started heading back to their places.
Since the area was quite rural, there was no streetlight, so we knew it was time to make our way back to the resort. It was a fantastic day filled with beautiful moments and enchanting sights!

The resort had it all – yummy food and refreshing drinks for everyone to enjoy! As the evening approached, the resort lit up with beautiful, colorful lights, making the atmosphere absolutely magical. I couldn’t resist capturing the moment with some fun selfies and photos!

And guess what? The resort even had its very own restaurant, and it was super cool! The place was spotless and super clean, making it a safe and hygienic place to eat. While sitting on the balcony outside the resort, sipping on a warm cup of tea, I could hear cheerful music playing in the background, from some private party!

To top it all off, they delivered a scrumptious dinner right to our room. It was the perfect end to an incredible day filled with laughter and fun.
I couldn’t remember when I had fallen asleep on the balcony swing (Jhula) at night. As the morning sun’s rays touched my face, I woke up excitedly to a dreamy sky, filled with colors that promised a beautiful day ahead.

I made myself a warm cup of tea using the many tea bags provided. With my tea in hand, I stepped out onto the balcony and sat on the swing, enjoying the mild morning weather and the gentle breeze that kissed my cheeks.

After getting ready, we headed to have a delicious complimentary breakfast, filled with tasty Bengali cuisine. It was a perfect way to start the day! With our tummies happy and full, we checked out of the resort and decided to explore the local attractions.

To make our journey extra fun, we hired a toto from the nearby toto stand. Off we went, ready for a day of exciting adventures and discoveries!
